AN independent garage has won an award at Motor Trader Awards. Gloucester based Tetbury Car Care won the prize for Independent Garage of the Year – which was sponsored by the IGA.
The family-run garage beat scores of other contenders to the win the trophy. Proprietor Mike Hicks said: “We’re delighted to have been recognised as we are a small outfit, but there has been more than thirty years of hard work gone into it to reach this goal.”
The garage has had a good run of luck recently, as it was in the regional finals of another competition recently: “We won the regional final of Garage of the Year, so it has been a good year and I don’t know how I’m going to cap it next year,” said a delighted Mr. Hicks.
Also in line for a prize at the awards was Chris Mason from industry watchdog Motor Codes. He scooped an Outstanding Achievement award as the judges were pleased with his work in getting OFT approval for the codes, as well as his efforts in having the body recognised as a form of ‘trip advisor’ style consumer charter by the Department for Transport.
