Most of Auto Windscreen's staff were told to stop working on February 14 as the administrators moved in. Reasons for the firm's collapse were given by Deloitte, the admin firm as being a surprise fall in revenue over the last quarter, as well as problems with a delayed and over-budget IT system.
However, a statement from Deloitte cited the main reason for the collapse was due to winding up petition received from what it described as a ‘large creditor'. The Guardian newspaper stated that this large creditor was HM Revenue and Customs.
A spokesman from the administrator said: ""It is extremely disappointing to see such a well-known business enter administration. The company worked extremely hard to try and recapitalise the business, but unfortunately this could not be achieved in the time available.
