Independent garage S&K Autos, has just celebrated 30 years in business – just as it discovered it was consumer site, Which?’s, most recommended garage. As a result, garage owner, Ade King, was recently interviewed by the consumer title for its feature providing top tips on DIY car maintenance.
S & K Autos, of Pickwick Road, Corsham, was formed back in 1981 by King and his then business partner. “Our workshop was made of corrugated steel nailed to a wooden frame and had originally housed charabangs!” he said. “It was a far cry from what it’s like here now.”
Mr. King started the business when he was just 22. “My business partner and I had worked hard to save up £1,000 to set up S & K Autos, which was a lot of money in those days,” he said. “I remember how quickly that money was gone on the first month’s rent, insurance and legal fees we had to pay. I also remember how many sleepless nights I had in those days, as is probably the case for anyone who starts their own business!”
S & K Autos joined the Bosch Car Service network in 2008, after deciding it was the right direction for the business. “We really liked the Bosch Car Service concept and what the brand stands for; exceptional customer service, fairness and transparency.
