THE IMI have confirmed that ATA accreditation will be valid for three years from April.
Previously, the accreditation ‘card’ was valid for five years, but the organisation felt that there was a need to reduce the period because of changing technology.
A statement from the institution read: “In order to ensure technicians keep pace with vehicle technology and ever advancing repair methods, it is necessary to amend the accreditation window to a more appropriate three year period.”
In the meantime, assessments completed before midnight on March 31st will have five years on their ATA ID Card. All assessments completed on or after April 1st will have the new three year validity.
