Flying cars

The latest instalment to the Haynes book series pays homage to all the weird and wonderful cars designed to fly and aircraft designed for road use.

The first car/plane hybrid was dreamed up by engineers nearly a century ago and since then, many machines have, with varying degrees of success, been launched into the skies.

The book explores many designs, some of which made it into production such as the Airphibian, apparently transforming from aircraft to car in just seven minutes, and the Skycar which boasts vertical take-off capability!

Better known vehicles of this ilk which are explored include Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and flying cars used in Joe 90 and Harry Potter.
