The latest free software update from Pico Technology contains what it believes will be one of its most popular features to date - the ability to search a library of waveforms uploaded by PicoScope users from around the world. Steve Smith, Automotive Applications Specialist at Pico Technology says: "I cannot remember how many times it would have been useful to have a comparison waveform for a circuit under test, especially when comparing camshaft/crankshaft timing. Often this would involve sifting through your own library or ringing round colleagues in the hope you might get lucky". PicoScope users everywhere can now share experience regarding good and faulty systems across any vehicle. Over 450 waveforms have already been uploaded by beta testers of the new software. This feature is available to all users with a PicoScope 3000 Series or 4000 Series automotive scope. You can share your own waveforms to the library, enabling everyone to view, download and save your uploaded data. The Waveform Library Browser has comprehensive search options allowing you to locate a relevant waveform for a specific manufacturer or model. You can also search for a waveform using just the engine code or ECU type, so you can locate a relevant entry that may have been saved with different vehicle details.

  • Keep customers coming back

For a garage, trying to drive repeat business can often be challenging. However, with the software, you can easily schedule text messages to remind past customers that their annual service and MOT is due. You can also provide service reports and confirm that a vehicle is ready without wasting time trying to phone the customer. The software is free and you only pay a few pence for each text message that you send. Garages using this service can expect to receive more repeat bookings and happier, better informed customers.
