HELLA and Hengst tie the knot

HELLA and Hengst form comprehensive OE filtration alliance

Published:  20 March, 2017

HELLA UK is to supply filtration  products to the aftermarket through a new alliance with OE manufacturer Hengst Filtration.

The UK arm is the first part of the HELLA group to supply filtration products from Hengst Filtration as a result the new working relationship.

Hengst Filtration is an OEM supplier of fluid management and filtration to the automotive and engine industry. This new arrangement puts the HELLA Hengst brand of filters within reach of the entire aftermarket in both the UK and Ireland.

From April, HELLA Hengst oil, air, fuel and cabin filters for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles will be only available via the HELLA UK warehouse and direct from Germany for volume customers, although commercial vehicle filters will still be available under the Hengst brand.

Core strengths
Commenting on the development, HELLA UK managing director Matthew Say says:  “This alliance allows us to combine our core strengths and bring together two German OE component suppliers that are acknowledged as technological innovators and that between them have an incredible 175 plus years of automotive heritage.

“As a result, we are now able to supply a broad programme of OE quality filtration products throughout the UK and Ireland, backed up by HELLA’s renowned organisational prowess, to guarantee outstanding sales and technical support for the independent aftermarket. The final outcome provides motor factors and their customers an extensive filtration programme with excellent service, which will allow the alliance to become one of the relevant players in the filtration sector in these respective markets.

“In common with many product groups throughout the aftermarket, filtration is a fiercely competitive sector. Hengst manufactures products of the highest quality and has numerous OE contracts, which means that we can provide our customers with the reassurance that comes with a globally recognised OE brand and with a depth of range to satisfy their requirements.”

Christopher Heine, a member of the Hengst board and responsible for the aftermarket, adds: “We have entered into this alliance because it combines the best of two traditional companies: HELLA Group has significant OE heritage and an outstanding service expertise dating back over 100 years and with almost 60 years’ presence in the UK market. We will now benefit from this local expertise. We bring an established product range and our filtration competence into the partnership.

“Filters that have been developed for OE are constructed in exactly the same way and are transferable to the aftermarket. We both have the same goal and we are sure this partnership will lead to mutual success.”
