Kwik-Fit move into 'slow-fit' market

Fast fit mount challenge to service and repair sector

Published:  15 October, 2013

Known as 'Kwik Fit Plus', the garages, which feature diagnostics, wiring and general repairs are opening in 17 existing centres in the South East of England with the potential for further expansion.

The firm says that the centres have effectively been divided in two with separate teams of fully trained staff each delivering traditional 'fast-fit' as well as 'slow-fit' services.

Kwik Fit fleet director Peter Lambert said: "We recognised that we were only scratching the surface in terms of penetrating the fleet servicing market. We also recognised that there were limitations in some centres in terms of the mechanical work being delivered and that we needed to further improve delivery consistency across the network."

The pilot will run for 18 months after which a decision will be taken to discontinue it, or expand further.
