New car prize in charity draw

Donating a scrap car could see you behind the wheel of a new Mitsubishi

Published:  01 November, 2013

CAR recycling scheme charitycar.com is set to give away a brand new vehicle to someone who scraps their vehicle this autumn.

Following on from a successful promotion to win a new Mini earlier in the year, the group is now giving away a brand new Mitsubishi Mirage

The website, part of the cartakeback.com group, works with 36 charities and donates a percentage of the value of each car scrapped to the organisation that referred it. Cars that might still have a bit of life left in them are sent to a trade auction, while the rest are simply weighed in.

One of the non-profit organisations involved in the scheme is BEN, the motor industry charity. Director Nigel Williams said: "We hope that more and more people realise there is a quick, easy and environmentally friendly way to dispose of their old, unwanted cars for the benefit of others."
