Kia labels mechanics as 'cowboys' on Twitter

Vehicle manufacturer's Twitter account tries to promote dealer servicing by generalising the independent industry

Vehicle manufacturer Kia has positioned both independent and other franchised dealer mechanics as 'cowboys' on its official Twitter feed.


Manufacturers are trying to secure more customers into their service bays with offers aimed directly at drivers of their cars. However, Kia's tweet could be seen as a step too far, by darkening the competition from the independent industry with a term it is trying hard to shake off. The tweet can also been seen as taking a swipe at other vehicle manufacturer's servicing options.
