Quality is an assurance

Borg & Beck testing aids problem resolutions

Due to the demands on the system and time now required to fit a replacement clutch, more than ever, quality is paramount. Quality is the foundation principle for the First Line Group (FLG) and its Borg & Beck Clutch programme, which is why it has invested in a testing facility to ensure that quality is guaranteed across the range.

Following the introduction of the HKF1053 all-in-one kit for the Vauxhall/Opel Combo, Corsa 1.3-litre CDTi, which was researched and developed at the test centre, the team turned their attention to the Ducato/Relay/Boxer 3.0-litre TD to find a solution to the premature failure of the original equipment (OE) clutch in applications such as motorhomes or similar conversions.

By re-specifying the DMF clutch and working alongside its manufacturing partner, the team developed the HKF1054, a single mass flywheel solution, which although still operating with the existing OE release mechanism, has a 15mm larger diameter flywheel and a modified cover assembly. This allows for a much-improved dissipation of heat and means that the replacement kit is fully able to cope with the demands of these heavy-duty applications.

Conveniently and in common with the original Borg & Beck HKF1053 kit, this new addition is also an all-in-one kit solution and comes with the flywheel, cover assembly and driven plate, plus the necessary mounting bolts to provide workshops with the most straightforward fitting procedure.
