Filtered performance
Filters from K&N
Published: 20 March, 2014
K&N's 33-2498 air filter is a simple performance upgrade designed for the new Honda Accord 2.4 litre engine. It is designed to increase horsepower and acceleration while providing efficient filtration of the air being brought into the engine. It has been precision engineered to be an easy-to-install direct replacement, sitting in the factory standard airbox without any modifications. The durable urethane seal provides an excellent fit, while the oiled cotton gauze filter allows for less restriction in the factory air intake system. The 33-2498 is also washable, meaning once fitted it does not require replacing, unlike disposable paper-based filters. It is therefore a simple performance add-on and a cost saving product in one.
- From strength to strength
A further 62 part numbers, incorporating 25 brake discs, 21 filters and 16 hub assembly kits, join Comline's 7,500-strong product range. The products cover all major European, Japanese and Korean vehicles and include an air filter for Fiat 500, oil filter for Renault Master, Nissan Qashqai+2, Vauxhall Movano, a brake disc for BMW's 2, 3 and 4 Series and a hub assembly kit for the Nissan Qashqai.
- All set for increased demand
Comline's filter range provides over 1,400 part numbers providing air, oil, fuel and cabin filters for over 95% of the European, Japanese and Korean car parc. Recent additions cover vehicles introduced in 2012 and after to cater for imminent demand in the aftermarket and include an air filter for the Fiat 500/Panda, oil filter for the Audi A3, VW Golf, Seat Leon and Skoda Octavia and an air filter for the Mercedes-Benz A-Class. The firm says each filter is manufactured using the latest ISO production procedures to ensure reliability and the price is kept down due to the company's lean structure - no field-based reps, no company cars, electric-only catalogues etc). With a broad, up-to-date range of high-quality filters available at competitive prices, it's easy to see why Comline has become one of the foremost filter suppliers in the aftermarket.
- Summer parts extension
A total of 31 new part numbers join the ACDelco range of air, oil, cabin and fuel filters which now offers more than 1,700 part numbers. The summer part numbers cover a wide range of marques including Audi, BMW, Chrysler, Citroen, Dodge, Fiat, Ford, Hyundai, Jaguar, Jeep, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Mercedes, Peugeot, Skoda, Suzuki and VW. Its range of fuel filters are designed to keep fuel as clean as possible whilst providing fuel-flow management and parts include spin on, element, in-line and eco-friendly filters. Its oil filters also come in spin on, elements and eco-friendly types which can be used with all types of engine, hydraulic and gear oils. Its panel, round, oval and conical air filters are designed to meet or exceed all technical specifications and its cabin air filters minimise exposure to pollutants.
- Technology beats contamination
Sogefi was the first to manufacture filters using a technology known as 'Chevron' pleating, which maintains strength whilst offering up to 20% more filtration surface compared to standard, straight pleating. It filters tiny particles to protect turbochargers, takes up less space than standard filters but designed to perform as well as larger standard units. Diesel engines are highly sensitive to contaminants; dirt particles can damage the fuel system and the smallest water droplets can cause costly damage. Sogefi's Diesel3Tech technology guarantees water separation efficiency and extends service life and replacement intervals using three layers to filter dirt particles and water. It was developed to meet the demands of new diesel fuels based on ultra-low sulphur diesel which contain larger amounts of emulsified water and therefore pose a threat to high-pressure injection systems. In other news, Sogefi has replaced its cardboard cabin air filter packaging with a recyclable, transparent polypropylene packet which are smaller and lighter than the original and provides customers with more storage space. Air filter packaging is set to be upgraded soon.
- Fast moving filters
Replacement filters for the best-selling models for all major European and Japanese car manufacturers are available ex-stock from Mahle's West Midlands warehouse. Fuel filters cover popular diesel engines fitted to Audi A6, A7 and Q5 models as original equipment, plus the new Porsche Macan three-litre diesel and Toyota Yaris 1.4D-4D. New pollen filters are available for the Ford Focus Mk3 and Transit, Chrysler Ypsilon, Fiat 500 and Panda and carbon-activated cabin filters for the Honda Jazz 2002-07, Suzuki Swift, BMW M3, Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg. Air filters now cover a variety of Volvo and Mercedes-Benz models.
