A braking kit is available for all Nissan S14, R32 Skyline and Z32 300ZX models which has been made by Tarox in response to requests from drivers in the British Drift Championship. Based around a brace of the B32 six pot calipers, the kit is described as "every bit as easy on the eye as it is hard on the laws of physics". A pair of 324mm, one-piece discs are supplied with Tarox's own design of pad, available in either 'Corsa' for track use and 'Strada' for the daily driver who want to benefit from the safety advantages of the product. All hoses and fittings are included along with a pair of adapters to make for easy fitting.
- A mighty Mini upgrade
A programme of braking upgrades for all Mini models is offered by Tarox. A cost-effective upgrade is available with a disc and 'Strada' pad upgrade which can be used alongside the standard factory calipers. There are three disc styles; smart offset-radial grooves of the G88, OEM style arcing lines of the F2000 and the sportier drilled and grooved Sport Japan version. Each have attained the strict German ABE accreditation. Owners of the older R53 and R56 range can benefit from an upgrade and now for 25% less. A Sport Compact kit is born out of the firm's years of race car experience. The kit has a 315mm one-piece disc with a B30-6 caliper. For a limited time these are offered in custom caliper colours and pad compounds at a discounted price.
- Put to the test
Performance brake manufacturer Tarox subjects all products to a burn/freeze test which is used by OEM suppliers to confirm efficiency and longevity under extreme conditions. Products are tested inside a temperature controlled thermal cell, aka the torture chamber. The resistance of all the components on a brake caliper is checked under extreme temperature as well as intense use. Each caliper, complete with pads, is fixed on a support within the cell and the cell is cycled between 120°C and -40°C. The caliper is made to perform 1,000 simulated retardations every hour, for a continuous 36 hour session, over 3 full heat cycles of 12 hours each. So, each test sees 36,000 simulated stops over one-and-a-half days. The company found that every Tarox product was found to operate without fault throughout these conditions and all components were in perfect working order after a thorough strip down and inspection. MD Valeria Taroni, said: "We are delighted to share the results of this in-house testing with our dealers and end-users. There is no requirement or stipulation in the performance aftermarket to subject our products to such torture but we feel as a company that we should prove the engineering integrity of every component we design and manufacture."
- From strength to strength
A further 62 part numbers, incorporating 25 brake discs, 21 filters and 16 hub assembly kits, join Comline's 7,500-strong product range. The products cover all major European, Japanese and Korean vehicles and include an air filter for Fiat 500, oil filter for Renault Master, Nissan Qashqai+2, Vauxhall Movano, a brake disc for BMW's 2, 3 and 4 Series and a hub assembly kit for the Nissan Qashqai.
- Brakes App
A Pagid App is now available providing instant access to TMD Friction's updated catalogue, with supporting images, technical information and the OE part number. Once installed, the App requires no manual updates. It is available now on Google Play and iTunes. The company has also just launched the Pagid Professional Academy - a brake training programme which awards successful attendees with the IMI QAA Award in Light Vehicle Brake Fitting. The course comprises a step-by-step distance learning programme, two-day training master class delivered by independent trainers, followed by a practical exam.
- Shelf appeal
The range of brake pads and discs for light commercial vehicles and passenger cars continues to be developed by Juratek, which reveals a new look this month. A new logo features on black and grey packaging in an attempt to give the product more 'shelf appeal'. The range of brake pads are certified to ECE regulation 90 and tested to AK Master standards - a test programme that original equipment manufacturers use to assess the performance of braking product to the extreme, over and above the ECE R90 test parameters. The latest references to hit the shelf, sporting the new packaging, are front and rear pads and discs for the brand new Ford Custom.
