Oil check

Engine oil from Comma

Published:  12 July, 2013

Engine oils in modern cars and LCVs must be re-filled and topped up with the engine specific oil, dictated by the vehicle's manufacturer. If you don't and things go wrong with the cat, diesel particulate filter, engine or the turbocharger, the fault may be traced back to the wrong oil being used, invalidating the warranty.

Advanced lubricant technology allows for service intervals of 20,000 miles or more but service techs need to make customers aware that their cars still consume oil so they need to check the oil level regularly and top up with the right product.

Motorists can use Comma's online VRN look-up to check which oil is needed for their vehicle.
