Bodyshops are being urged by Pro-Align to check a vehicle's alignment before work starts so that damaged components which could otherwise go unnoticed, can be costed into the estimate.

Power Probe has a range of products to help with diagnostic work. The Power Probe III connects to the battery and with the press of a switch you get an instant hot lead or ground lead. The probe tip and ground lead can be used to simultaneously power up components, you can instantly check for continuity, identify positive, negative and open circuits without re-polarising hook-up clips. You can also use the probe to find shorts without wasting fuses. A high pitched tone indicates a positive and a low tone a negative, this audio function can be disabled when testing relays. The tool comes with a 20ft long lead and two white LEDs flood the working area with bright light.

The new software download for the Snap-on group of diagnostic devices brings total coverage to over 55,000 vehicles. The 12.4 update has added 11 years of coverage for Jaguar, between 2000 and 2011. All popular models and engine variants are included. It provides full coverage of the significant systems, including supplementary restraints (both manual and diagnostic), ABS, transmission and engine, as well as functional tests including electronic parking brake and gear shifter modules. "With each new software release we add exactly what our customers have asked for based on regular feedback. Our 12.4 software now covers 97% of the UK vehicle parc,"says Snap-on's Mark Ost.

The Paint Pro system from Autoglym is said to easily remove paintwork defects in two stages. It works best on light scratches, swirl marks and holograms. A renovating compound is used, followed by a refining compound and is ideal for people who have limited machine polishing and paint rectification experience.
