DPF diagnostics

A diesel particulate filter diagnostics tool enables you to regenerate the DPF, reset the EOLYS additive light, check for DPF fault codes and perform a filter replacement and static regeneration, without the need for main dealer involvement.
The DPF Reset Tool from EEC supports vehicle from the year 2000 onwards and is said to cover a substantial range of application numbers, which will be added to through updates via its website.
The tool was created from a consensus gathered from garages, Paul Clark says: "We found that many garages regarded Diesel Particulate Filters as a main-dealer only product, that they are particularly complicated to install and that specialist diagnostic tools are always required."
The company has a growing range of DPFs in addition to this useful tool.

Cleaning DPF filters is never the most pleasant task. Either they have to be removed from the car and cleaned with air, or the garage can attempt a ‘forced regeneration’.

The new software download for the Snap-on group of diagnostic devices brings total coverage to over 55,000 vehicles. The 12.4 update has added 11 years of coverage for Jaguar, between 2000 and 2011. All popular models and engine variants are included. It provides full coverage of the significant systems, including supplementary restraints (both manual and diagnostic), ABS, transmission and engine, as well as functional tests including electronic parking brake and gear shifter modules. "With each new software release we add exactly what our customers have asked for based on regular feedback. Our 12.4 software now covers 97% of the UK vehicle parc,"says Snap-on's Mark Ost.

The coloured satin chrome sockets are available in 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" square drives with knurled rings for extra grip. The spanner set features Draper Expert Hi-Torq ring ends cranked at 15º with the open end set at 15º.

Testing the batteries of vehicles that come in for other repairs and maintenance should be routinely done during the colder months, says Ring Automotive, and its latest range of testers will check the cranking ability and indicate where a replacement, or just a recharge, is needed.
