An intuitive Hunter
Hunter Road Force 'Touch' Balancer
Published: 22 November, 2012
The new Hunter Road Force 'Touch' Balancer from Pro-Align measures road force variation and load force and because of this, won itself an innovation award at Automechanika in Frankfurt this year.
It is said to be able to eliminate even the most difficult wheel vibration and ride quality issues. It applies a load roller to the wheel and tyre assembly, essentially taking it on a road test to identify stiff spots in the tyre. With any low points on the wheel rim previously identified, the position of the tyre on the rim can be turned to match these two points to minimise any vibration.
The latest Road Force Balancer features an intuitive touch screen making it simple to use. MD Paul Beaurain explains: "Such is the speed of the new system it can carry out the extra measurements, allowing the additional service opportunity in the same amount of time as a standard, conventional balancer. Workshops equipping themselves with the new system will be much better placed to provide their customers an exceptional and unrivalled level of service."
- Freedom to move
Power Probe has a range of products to help with diagnostic work. The Power Probe III connects to the battery and with the press of a switch you get an instant hot lead or ground lead. The probe tip and ground lead can be used to simultaneously power up components, you can instantly check for continuity, identify positive, negative and open circuits without re-polarising hook-up clips. You can also use the probe to find shorts without wasting fuses. A high pitched tone indicates a positive and a low tone a negative, this audio function can be disabled when testing relays. The tool comes with a 20ft long lead and two white LEDs flood the working area with bright light.
- All major systems covered
The new software download for the Snap-on group of diagnostic devices brings total coverage to over 55,000 vehicles. The 12.4 update has added 11 years of coverage for Jaguar, between 2000 and 2011. All popular models and engine variants are included. It provides full coverage of the significant systems, including supplementary restraints (both manual and diagnostic), ABS, transmission and engine, as well as functional tests including electronic parking brake and gear shifter modules. "With each new software release we add exactly what our customers have asked for based on regular feedback. Our 12.4 software now covers 97% of the UK vehicle parc,"says Snap-on's Mark Ost.
- Become a paint pro the easy way
The Paint Pro system from Autoglym is said to easily remove paintwork defects in two stages. It works best on light scratches, swirl marks and holograms. A renovating compound is used, followed by a refining compound and is ideal for people who have limited machine polishing and paint rectification experience. The all-in-one Paint Pro Collection includes one litre of Paint Pro Renovate to exfoliate the clearcoat layer and a litre of Paint Pro Refine finishing compound which returns the treated paint surface to a glass-smooth gloss finish using the supplied buffing pad. A microfiber finishing cloth and information guide is also supplied

Testing the batteries of vehicles that come in for other repairs and maintenance should be routinely done during the colder months, says Ring Automotive, and its latest range of testers will check the cranking ability and indicate where a replacement, or just a recharge, is needed.
