Brakes toughen up
All new Comline brake

Major developments are planned for the Comline and Allied Nippon branded all-makes brake pad programmes for cars and LCVs in the areas of noise reduction, fitment and security.
As of now, all new brake pads will come with the three layer RMR shims (rubber-metal-rubber) and a back plate and friction profile design to match OE specs. All fitted accessories on brake pad sets will also be supplied with a Trivalent coating to provide extra strength and make the surface resistant to corrosion.

From our own two braking factories, we offer one of the largest ‘ECE R90’ approved brake pad programmes in the world; a true ‘one stop shop’ for all makes of European, Japanese and Korean cars and vans, and have recently introduced a range for commercial vehicles.”

Power Probe has a range of products to help with diagnostic work. The Power Probe III connects to the battery and with the press of a switch you get an instant hot lead or ground lead. The probe tip and ground lead can be used to simultaneously power up components, you can instantly check for continuity, identify positive, negative and open circuits without re-polarising hook-up clips. You can also use the probe to find shorts without wasting fuses. A high pitched tone indicates a positive and a low tone a negative, this audio function can be disabled when testing relays. The tool comes with a 20ft long lead and two white LEDs flood the working area with bright light.

The new software download for the Snap-on group of diagnostic devices brings total coverage to over 55,000 vehicles. The 12.4 update has added 11 years of coverage for Jaguar, between 2000 and 2011. All popular models and engine variants are included. It provides full coverage of the significant systems, including supplementary restraints (both manual and diagnostic), ABS, transmission and engine, as well as functional tests including electronic parking brake and gear shifter modules. "With each new software release we add exactly what our customers have asked for based on regular feedback. Our 12.4 software now covers 97% of the UK vehicle parc,"says Snap-on's Mark Ost.

The Paint Pro system from Autoglym is said to easily remove paintwork defects in two stages. It works best on light scratches, swirl marks and holograms. A renovating compound is used, followed by a refining compound and is ideal for people who have limited machine polishing and paint rectification experience. The all-in-one Paint Pro Collection includes one litre of Paint Pro Renovate to exfoliate the clearcoat layer and a litre of Paint Pro Refine finishing compound which returns the treated paint surface to a glass-smooth gloss finish using the supplied buffing pad. These Draper coloured chrome sockets, a security key set and combination spanner set are new from Sealey. The coloured satin chrome sockets are available in 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" square drives with knurled rings for extra grip. The spanner set features Draper Expert Hi-Torq ring ends cranked at 15º with the open end set at 15º.

Testing the batteries of vehicles that come in for other repairs and maintenance should be routinely done during the colder months, says Ring Automotive, and its latest range of testers will check the cranking ability and indicate where a replacement, or just a recharge, is needed.
