Southbound – New RMI Academy opens in Winchester

Published:  15 October, 2018

The Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMI) is to expand its MOT training offering by opening a new training centre in the South of England.

Located in Winchester, the new site joins the existing Southam and Runcorn Academies in the organisation’s growing chain and will provide an extensive range of training courses to MOT stations across the country. The RMI continues to build on its’ position as the UK’s largest provider of MOT tester training, and the new centre will run its first course on Tuesday 27 November 2018.

RMI Director Stuart James comments: “We are delighted to be providing this training centre to the South of England. We have received many requests for training in this part of the world and this addition will broaden our coverage in the UK. The RMI will consider additional centres in the future to support the industry, should the demand arise in other areas.

“This third venue will ensure that MOT stations in the South will have access to top quality training on a not-for-profit basis, with the same approach as the existing Southam and Runcorn academies.”

Ignition specialist NGK Spark Plugs (UK) Ltd has released a new catalogue detailing its range of NTK Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensors and Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensors. Full details of the range and applications of 87 MAF sensors and 69 MAP sensors – which were launched last September – are featured in the 2018/2019 publication. For maximum efficiency in engine operation and to ensure effective exhaust gas treatment, the engine control unit (ECU) needs to precisely regulate the air-fuel ratio. MAF and MAP sensors are essential elements in this process. Both provide the ECU with a signal needed to calculate the amount of air aspirated by the engine.
