WIN with Behr Hella Service

Published:  26 February, 2019

Behr Hella Service has five sets of mugs and polo shirts for the lucky readers of Aftermarket.  The company also wants to encourage technicians to follow best practice and top-up the oil within the air-conditioning system during vehicle service or replace it if the compressor is changed.

Although every compressor is pre-filled with oil to stop dirt, debris and moisture from entering the system, this needs to be drained and refilled with a specific formulation of oil before fitting. Technicians should therefore check the vehicle manufacturer’s oil specifications, as the use of low quality, the incorrect formulation or even the wrong amount of oil can lead to increased wear, premature compressor failure and warranty invalidation.

PAG oils are used by many vehicle and compressor manufacturers for R134a refrigerant. However, Behr Hella Service also provides specialised PAG oils – 46 YF and 100 YF – which are suitable for both R134a and R1234yf refrigerants. In addition, it also supplies PAO oil, both 68 and 68 plus UV, which are not moisture absorbing and contribute to the increased performance of the air conditioning system.

To win one of the mug and polo shirt sets, just answer the following question on oil for air conditioning systems:

When fitting a new compressor, should technicians:

a) Re-use the existing oil

b) Top-up the oil

c)  Replace the oil

Winner will be chosen at random from the correct answers when the competition closes on 22 March, and the winner will be notified by 28 March. The editor’s decision is final.  No cash alternative offered.
