PM: “Comprehensive plan” on lockdown lift next week

Published:  01 May, 2020

Garages could be able to be open in greater numbers, if the Prime Minister’s aim to begin lifting lockdown restrictions soon is achieved.

At his first appearance in several weeks at the daily Downing Street press conference yesterday (Thursday 30 April), Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that next week he would be unveiling a “comprehensive plan” on reopening schools, on how people could begin to travel to and from work, and on the reopening of the wider economy.

The Prime Minister also asserted that the UK was “past the peak” of the COVID-19 outbreak, but pointed out how important it was that the UK did not “risk a second spike.” He also observed that facemasks could be “useful” in the overall strategy for emerging from lockdown.
