Schaeffler adds wheel bearing training video
Published: 28 September, 2020
Schaeffler’s REPXPERT workshop support programme has been bolstered with a new video for front and rear wheel bearing replacement on a 2012 Ford Fiesta.
Commenting on the new video, Schaeffler Marketing and Digital Media Executive Tony Yates said: “With around two million Ford Fiesta and Ka models that use these bearings on the UK’s roads, this should be a popular repair for any independent workshop, so this additional resource to the REPXPERT portal provides another really useful video for mechanics.”
The Front wheel requires a press to remove the Generation 1 type wheel bearing before inserting the new unit into the hub assembly, and features an ABS encoder ring incorporated into the bearing. In contrast, the rear wheel bearing is a Generation 3 hub unit, which is a complete bolt-on module incorporating the mounting plate, bearing, wheel flange and ABS encoder.
Tony added: “It is worth reinforcing the message that everything on the REPXPERT site is completely free, with mechanics just needing to enter their workshop details and to then validate their registration after receiving a confirmation email. They will then become a REPXPERT member, with all the privileges and opportunities this provides.”

The wheel bearing repair kit was presented at Automechanika Frankfurt 2018 and is now available under the MEYLE parts numbers 014 753 0003, 100 653 0033, 100 653 0034 and 100 653 003.

- MEYLE: ABS sensor kit
MEYLE has produced an ABS sensor kit that enables targeted replacement of a defective ABS sensor and the sensor ring. Previously, if an ABS sensor had been damaged by a defective sensor ring, it would have been necessary to replace the entire wheel hub. However, most of the time, the wheel hub is still fully functional and can be used. The new MEYLE kit solution is currently available for the Audi A3, VW Golf, VW Jetta, SEAT Altea and SEAT Leon, whose ABS sensor ring on OE wheel hubs can be replaced separately using the MEYLE KIT. Two new references can cover a car park of nearly 4 million vehicles in Europe.

- John Bean V2280 wheel aligner
The new John Bean V2280 is designed to be robust, and features an automatic tracking beam, while its cameras move automatically up and down following the targets. The Compensate, Warn and Alert system detects problems with suspension stress and damage, lift, clamps, environment and more. Wheel rims from 11inches to 22inches can be worked on without adaptors and without removing hubcaps thanks to new lightweight wheel clamps. Work can be quickly started from the home screen, and the vehicle selection process has also been improved with a model search capability. As a result, a vehicle’s alignment history can be easily stored and recovered.
