NGK employee completes charity marathon

NGK employee Stuart Bayne has succesfully completed the Virgin Money London Marathon, finishing the 26-2-mile coure in just over five hours.

Stuart, who is Sales Manager – North for NGK Spark Plugs (UK) is hopeful that his endeavours will have raised around £2,500 for the Downs Syndrome Association (DSA). The marathon was postponed in April this year because of the coronavirus pandemic but runners took part in a ‘virtual‘ run this weekend with just the top athletes competing in London.

Stuart ran from Cambridge to St Ives in Cambridgeshire and back on Sunday (4 October) completing the route in five hours two minutes and forty-one seconds.

Stuart has raised tens of thousands of pounds for the DSA over the past few years via a number of fund-raising exploits including three marathons and sponsored cycle rides in Europe and New Zealand.

He said: “The weather wasn’t very nice, it was heavy mizzle all day. It was quite hard going but there were about sixty people taking part over the route and although it was obviously not the same as running the proper London Marathon course it helped to have their support.”

If you wish to donate to Stuart’s fund-raising page, you can do so by logging on to and entering his name.
