- New NGK ignition leads
NGK has introduced a new range of ignition lead sets in the UK. The range has more than 40 part numbers including copper core, carbon and inductive resistor types. According to NGK, the range offers high resistance to heat and vibration, as well as excellent electrical conductivity and performance under extreme conditions. The launch followed the 2019 introduction of a new range of NTK camshaft and crankshaft sensors, which themselves followed the introduction of 20 new wide band Lambda sensors – commonly referred to as ‘5-wire’ Lambda sensors.

- NGK-NTK 5-wire sensors
NGK continues to enhance its NTK sensors offering with the launch of 20 new wide band Lambda sensors. The new wide band sensors – commonly referred to as ‘5-wire’ Lambda sensors – will supplement the company’s existing range of 64 NTK OE 5-wire sensors. The launch significantly increases its UK range coverage – particularly for VAG models – and means that NGK now has 5-wire sensors available for almost every vehicle manufacturer who utilises this technology. The products are now visible on MAM Software and are supported by full OE and competitor cross-references NGK also recently announced that it is to introduce a range of new premium NTK camshaft and crankshaft sensors in the UK in 2019. A new European programme, comprising 567-part numbers covering 88% of the car parc, equivalent to 270 million cars, was announced recently at the Automechanika Frankfurt show and UK-specific part numbers and vehicle parc coverage will be confirmed over the coming months.

- High tech sensors
NTK sensors are used in many new models as they come off the factory production line, including the Volkswagen Golf VII. The 1.2 TSI model uses a binary Lambda sensor of the OZAS-S type which regulates the mixture, the 1.4 TSI uses a linear ZFAS-U type as a regulating sensor and the OZAS-S type acts as a diagnostic sensor. NTK temperature sensors in diesel engines work with close coupled exhaust systems, a CTAS-T sensor controls the exhaust temperature upstream of the turbo charger. NGK is also the sole supplier of NTK Lambda sensors for Fiat's TwinAir engine with Fiat, capable of detecting the air-fuel ratio over a broad range of operating points. The company advises garages to fit a new NTK Lambda sensor whenever the cat is replaced - a worn or failed sensor can result in increased fuel consumption, uneven running and poor performance.
