SMP Europe: Ignition leads range launched

SMP Europe has issued a new ignition leads range, available across its Intermotor, Lucas, Lemark, High Volt and Electrospark brands. The range includes more than 875 references. Manufactured in Poland, most of the sets use 7mm or 8mm full silicone ad copper core cable, although the range also includes 5mm cable sets to cover the Japanese and Korean vehicle parc.

- 199 range expansions by SMP Europe
SMP Europe has added a further 199 products to its range, including cam and crank sensors, exhaust gas temperature sensors (EGTS), ignition coils, oxygen sensors and speed sensor ranges, across the company’s Intermotor, Fuel Parts, Kerr Nelson, Lemark and Lucas brands. These include a new air mass meter for petrol-engine Lexus CT, Suzuki Swace and Toyota’s 4Runner, Auris, C-HR, Corolla, Land Cruiser and Prius, as well as 13 new crank sensor parts covering of BMW Citroen, Peugeot and Opel/Vauxhall vehicles. The EGTS offering has been expanded via 42 new references, while there are nine new fuel feed units and 16 new ignition coils for Alfa Romeo, Citroen, Dacia, Fiat, Honda, Jeep, Maserati, Mercedes, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Peugeot, Porsche, Renault, Seat, Suzuki, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo models. There are also 73 new oxygen sensors, seven speedo sensors and a new throttle body for various Porsche vehicles. SMP Europe’s new additions also include nine new wheel speed sensors for Daimler, Jaguar, KIA, Mercedes and Mitsubishi models.

- Ford plugs in for all-EV future
Ford is the latest carmaker to announce its intention to go all-in on EVs, and has said that mid-2026, 100% of its passenger vehicle range in Europe will be zero-emissions capable, all-electric or plug-in hybrid, moving to all-electric by 2030.
- New NGK ignition leads
NGK has introduced a new range of ignition lead sets in the UK. The range has more than 40 part numbers including copper core, carbon and inductive resistor types. According to NGK, the range offers high resistance to heat and vibration, as well as excellent electrical conductivity and performance under extreme conditions. The launch followed the 2019 introduction of a new range of NTK camshaft and crankshaft sensors, which themselves followed the introduction of 20 new wide band Lambda sensors – commonly referred to as ‘5-wire’ Lambda sensors.

- VXPRO ignition coills
With more than 300 part numbers, the VXPRO ignition coil range includes many items that workshops will need when working on ignition systems. An ignition coil is wire wrapped around a core to make a transformer, which converts the low voltage from the vehicle’s battery, to the thousands of volts needed to create an electric spark in the spark plugs. They are of various types including older style oil filled wet, as well as newer, distributor, block, pencil and rail coils. ELTA provides a range of options through the VXPRO range.

Service life is extended up to 75,000 miles depending on the application which consequently reduces costs by extending service intervals. The BERU Iridium spark plug range is initially launched for Volkswagen and BMW fitments, but range extensions will follow.
