Opus IVS recently ran a pair of Technical Open Evenings in collaboration with the IGA, held at the RMI Academy of Skills in Runcorn.

The events took place at the RMI Academy of Automotive Skills in Runcorn on 19 and 20t April.IGA Head of Member Services Frank Harvey kicked things off with an industry update covering Block Exemption, the 4-1-1 MOT consultation, along with labour rates and other areas.

Opus IVS UK Sales Manager Pasquale Vaira then covered the Opus IVS offering, the technology behind the products, as well as what UK support centre can offer users. The evening concluded with a high voltage systems session on from IVS 360 BMW Master Technician Keith Witherspoon, who observed: “High voltage is a whole new world for technicians and it requires an entirely new set of skills. These vehicles are now already out there in large numbers, so it’s essential technicians have a complete understanding of systems and how to work safely on them.”

Commenting on how they found the event, Liam Plews, General Manager at Motor Marque of Leeds said: “It was just a really insightful evening. Some of the information on isolation procedures, I’ve not seen covered in other training courses and it was a great opportunity to meet some fantastic people too.”

Opus IVS UK Sales Manager Pasquale Vaira concluded: “The aim was to bring industry people together to share common problems and discuss solutions. For us, it’s all about showcasing the support that’s available for garages and to let them know that they’re not on their own.”
