Toyota issues another vehicle recall

Models affected by differing safety issues

Published:  17 April, 2014

Japanese manufacturer Toyota has issue another worldwide recall, affecting over 35,000 UK registered vehicles.

RAV 4, Hilux, Yaris and Urban Cruiser models are affected by the recall, the latest issued by the company. In total, it is estimated that 6.3 million vehicles are affected. Issues include a defect in the spiral cable assembly in the airbag module that could cause circuitry to fail, under strength seat rail springs and weak welds in some steering brackets.

There have been no reports of any accidents caused by these issues; however the company is in the spotlight after its major recall of models in 2010 over sticking accelerator pedals. At that time, around 250,000 UK cars were subject to modification work.
